The journey to transforming your physique from average to jacked isn’t as simple as some may think 💪
Many people, myself included, start their fitness journeys believing that lifting weights will automatically lead to gains, but the reality is often quite different. After years in the gym, I’ve realized that many are wasting their time on ineffective programs and unrealistic expectations.
Here’s what I learned along the way:
1️⃣ You might have the genetics to build muscle, but you need to give your body a consistent chance to grow. A lot of individuals quit too early without really giving a proven plan a fair shot.
2️⃣ Stop program hopping! Stick to a well-structured program for at least a year. Boredom shouldn’t derail your progress.
3️⃣ Progressive overload is critical. If you’re not improving in weights or reps over time, neither will your physique.
4️⃣ You don’t need to hit the gym six days a week. Three to four focused sessions are more than enough, especially if you’re natural.
5️⃣ Steroids are not necessary. Many who appear to progress faster are using substances that give them an unfair advantage. Focus on smarter training and proper recovery instead.
6️⃣ Consistency wins. Pick a workout program you enjoy, and stick to it long enough to see results.
7️⃣ The basics always work better than the latest trends. Stick with fundamental exercises and a straightforward approach to nutrition.
8️⃣ For muscle gain, eat real, whole foods and focus on getting adequate sleep and activity into your day. Remember, getting lean is simple but not easy!
9️⃣ Protein intake is often overhyped; aim for around 0.6 to 1 gram per pound of body weight.
🔟 In strength training, aesthetics matter, but remember, achieving a bigger physique requires improving your lifts over time. Focus on increasing your strength across the board.
To truly succeed in bodybuilding, you must focus on longevity. Building an impressive physique takes time—think of it like climbing a mountain, where every step counts towards the goal. Stay the course and prioritize your long-term health. Your journey to being jacked is a marathon, not a sprint.
